MAMBA is operating with FEM models without special modelling requirements.

It is applicable in case of jointed elastic structures where the relative motion of the two joint surfaces can considered to be ‘small’ with respect to each other. This is a typical attribute of structures containing bolted connections, spot welded seams or comparable joints.

The FEM model data file should contain the joint areas as two congruent and free surfaces within a user definable distance (MAMBA can handle moderate modelling errors). To reduce modelling effort non-matching meshes can be used as contact surfaces. Connectors like fasteners and spot-beams have to be modelled in the FEM environment.

MAMBA reads the FEM data file as input for the preparation of the flexible structure for the MBS model.
