The MAMBA simulation process efficiently captures the nonlinear phenomena arising from the contact stresses within jointed structures.
Basis for this efficiency is a model order reduction step which takes care about the correct treatment of contact interfaces within the jointed structure. Starting with an FE model the contact interfaces are detected automatically and prepared for further processing. Benefits of the MAMBA process model order reduction step are:
Later on MAMBA ensures that the resulting reduced order model is capable to enforce the nonlinear contact conditions and thus is able to compute meaningful contact stresses. For contact influenced problems this leads to a realistic load path and a physically motivated energy dissipation mechanism.
This way the obtained results improve subsequent evaluations like fatigue assessment or rattle and squeak investigations.
