The MAMBA simulation process for the dynamics of jointed structures consists of two major steps.
First one is the nonlinear model order reduction where MAMBA computes additional trial functions which explicitly take into account the local displacements within the contact interfaces. The model order reduction based on the extended reduction basis is carried out by a commercial finite element solver.
Second one is the contact simulation where MAMBA computes the contact stresses and extends the equations of motion accordingly. The time integration of the extended equations is carried out by a commercial multibody system solver.
